Emma Nunan's journey is not just about professional expertise but deeply rooted in personal experiences. With a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and a Master's in Disability Policy and Practice, Emma brings a wealth of academic knowledge to her role as Director. However, it's her life experiences that truly shape her dedication and understanding.
Hailing from Port Pirie, Emma grew up in a blended family with two siblings who have disabilities. As the guardian of her sibling Matt, who requires full-time care, Emma intimately understands the challenges faced by individuals and families in caring for loved ones with disabilities. Emma's own life story is one of resilience and determination. Leaving school at 15 and becoming a mother at 16, Emma faced adversity early on. Despite setbacks, including a workplace injury and personal tragedy, Emma's spirit remained unbroken. She pursued higher education, studying Social Work full-time and graduating in 2008. In 2011, a devastating house fire left Emma and her family with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Undeterred, they rebuilt their home and their lives. Emma's firsthand experience as a caregiver inspired her to venture into the NDIS space while working full-time in the health sector. |
